On May 9, 2019, Hyland Heights Elementary School hosted a workshop exploring school lunches, jointly presented with Primrose Elementary School and facilitated by Headwaters Food and Farming Alliance. Over 70 people attended and learned from local food professionals at five stations.

Funded by the Parents Reaching Out Grant from the Ministry of Education, this workshop featured chefs, farmers and dietitians offering parents different perspectives and tips for preparing lunches and snacks for and with their children, that would best prepare them for learning, supporting their achievement and well-being through good nourishment.
